Gettin bigger
The belly is getting bigger day by day! Now that we know that we are expecting a little princess, we have begun the 'name game'. I suggested that we keep it simple and buy books with no more than 5,000 names - however, we ended up buying an English one with 100,000 and a Japanese one with another 7 or 8 thousand. This is one serious undertaking. We have a few favorites already and we have ruled out the following names:
Crispina (or any other names that sound like snack foods)
Jameeka (or any other Ebonics style names)
Adalwolfa (or any other German female bodybuilder names)
Destiny (or any other stripper names)
Olga (or any other name that conjures images of large Scandinavian nannies)
Xiu ling (or any other blatantly ethnic name)
Xochiquetzal (or any other difficult to pronounce and spell names)
Zsa Zsa (or any other name you might give to your pet poodle or Hungarian heiress)
So, feel free to send in your suggestions. We are looking for names that work in both Japan and western culture. Below are some examples:
Lisa/Risa
Marie/Maria
Melia
Melissa
Mary/Mari
Sara
Erika/Eriko
Ema/Amy
