Shake n' Bake
There's nothing more terrifying than waking up at 4:19a to find your entire room swaying back and forth, especially when you live on the 22nd floor of a 45 story building. That was the pleasure that we had this morning and continues with aftershocks. Apparently our building has some kind of special earthquake technology in the walls - a kind of 'shock absorber' system. Since our bedroom is on the corner of the building we get to hear this technology in action which makes it all the more terrifying - lovely.
So it was only 5.4, but we turned on the news to see if it was bigger in another part of Japan. The news casters said, "we just had a 5.4 near chiba, no Tsunami warning is issued at this time...it's going to be HOT today, let's look at the temps" and they went straight into weather! I guess quakes are so common here that a 5.4 is a non event, but the 36 degree temperature (97F) that is forecast today is much more worthy of airtime. That life in Japan, shake and bake.
